Recommendations (stuff I finished):
Office Space (US) was a real kicker. I had just started a desk job in a technology company when I started watching this show. Although it's set in a much smaller company and a more tight knit group of coworkers, I kind of found the same motifs in my job.
I resisted watching Parks and Rec for the longest time just because it was so popular (a bad habit I have. However once I gave it a chance I was HOOKED. I watched the entire thing within a month with at least 57% attention over the entire show (as I sometimes "watch" shows with doing something else like painting or sewing).
Community was also one of my favorite shows. The sarcasm and snappy satire never ceased to keep me interested in the story line, characters and individual episode's themes. I followed this one as it was coming out (which always kills me). I had a hard time getting to that last season on yahoo because it was so weird but I also followed that season as it released. I'm still waiting for a movie.
House was another total show watch. Although near the end the show steered away from what I really liked about the show, I just had to complete it. I was a little peeved at the "secondary character" swaps but I still liked House himself.
Nurse Jackie is a non-nonsense show set in a hospital. Following the story of a drug addicted, cheating nurse, the relationships between the hospital workers (not just nurses) was really interesting. I binged this one in a few weeks but the finish wasn't as satisfying as other shows. I started to get bored when Jackie continued to fall back into her addiction and sneaking around over and over again. The ending also wasn't really a surprise.
Helix was a syfy surprise I had not intend on loving. Unfortunately it only lasted 2 seasons but I really loved the story line. The characters were revealed at the right pace and the "zombie like" feel to the show appealed to me. I highly recommend the first season. The second is a little lackluster but I still felt it was worth a watch through.
Dexter was a show I almost finished. I lost interested just before the last season as I didn't want to wait for it to come out so I completely ignored it and just didn't feel the need to finish it. The show starts off strong though and spikes a lot of interesting story lines. I would still recommend this despite my lack of finishing it.
That's all I can think of! What do YOU think? Any suggestions for new shows?
