004: Mini cupcakes of nomnomdom!

Cupcakes

So I basically fail at keeping promises and doing things I love. In lieu of an interesting post here is a picture of the cupcakes I made yesterday that, much to my surprise, made like 1,000 count from:

  1. 1 box strawberry Pillsbury cake mix
  2. 1 can of dollar-store-bought-mushed-up strawberries (that came in a can)
  3. 1 not-all-the-way-used container of "rich and creamy rainbow chip" frosting
  4. several sprankle stars and regular sprankles...
Enjoy!

003: Zombies!

ZOMBIES
For those of you who are currently preparing for the zombie apocalypse that may coincide with the end of the world according to the Mayans, you may be more sad to know that the next big zombie movie is coming in 2013. June of 2013 to be exact. For the other who just believe in z-day, you had better watch this trailer and get all excited. Zee Trailer, watch it you know you want to.

In the zombie culture there is a lovely chart telling you just how fucked you may be depending on what type of zombies is plaguing your planet.

Large sized because I believe scrolling less cumbersome than clicking a picture to make it readable.

As you can see from the chart, fast & smart zombies are the most dangerous. World War Z definitely has the fast zombies, smart though, I wouldn't know. At first when I watched the trailer I was very confused as to what the threat was in the opening car scene. As the trailer progressed I realized how freaking scary the way the crowd of zombies moved really was. Like I might have nightmares. Forever. The fact that Brad Pitt is a lead role makes me happy, if not excited. I haven't seen him in anything that great recently and let's face it, if you're that famous you have to do a zombie flick or your acting career was a sham.

Other great zombie movies:
Zombieland (2009)
Shaun of the Dead (2004)
28 Days Later (2002)
28 Weeks Later (2007)
Resident Evil (2002)
(sort of: there is controversy as to mutations of the subjects of this movie having its own category of monsterdom. Not quiet zombies but good enough.)

Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)

Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)

Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010)

Other zombie movies period:
Quarantine
Planet Terror
Night of the Living Dead
Evil Dead
I Am Legend
Dawn of the Dead
Anyway here is the rest, thanks Wikipedia...

IMDB is dating the release sometime next year, 2013 in June. Although the 'best by' expiration date of the world is ending, well, before that, we can hope that just like canned food (since we all learned Twinkles have an expiration date, oh wait, Hostess doesn't exist anymore), we will all stay good for a few years after that in order to see this movie come to fruition.

Side note

On a side note I've been sick all week and working on an intense project so I haven't had a chance to really do much research of awesomeness. This is actually a drafted post from like...forever ago. Sorry guys. I did play some Bioshock though. I got ganked by the lady in the ceiling, just like I'm getting ganked by life right now.

002: An update to another new beginning?

The Revival

Whatever Google search, I don't have time to find a suitable, readable picture for my  opening reference.

Much like the beginning of Bob's burgers, I have time and time again began a post for this blog and never followed through by hitting that 'post' button. I had hoped to find time to contribute to the research I am requiring of myself to find relatively obscure geek news but I was unable to due to my job and school time suckers. However, I recently quit my job so I should have enough time to devote to this project I've been wanting to start for years now. But somehow I am still finding myself at a road block to just getting done what needs to be done. So I am declaring now, to the 0 readers I have at this time that I am going to make an effort and promise to post at least once a week, on Friday (probably, don't quote or quill me on that). If nothing else I will feel better about it. Maybe I will get famous doing something I love (HA! Yeah right...).

Bioshock, anyone?

So I've decided to just focus on what I'm doing right now for topics. That being said, I want to take you back to the days of old, when Bioshock was a new thing and people were playing it. Let's just speak of the xbox version as I am PC impaired at the moment and have not even demoed the PC version. I have just started the game and with my abundant free time you would think I would be much further in the game by now....and die less. However, I am finding it is much more difficult that I had originally anticipated. It took me a week to beat the first boss, Doctor Steinman. I learned later from a friend that this battle would have been massively improved (easier?) had I kept my Electro Shock ability rather than keeping that silly Incinerate flame thing. Or maybe if I had seen THE HUGE OIL PUDDLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROOM.

"Why do we have two eyes? Is there some law that says we must? Two arms, two legs, two breasts..."
He has got a point, more than 2 are always better....that is a grammatical disaster.

It took me several million health packs later to defeat my first Big Daddy. It was a horribly frustrating experience that involved many "Damn it!"s being yelled in my xbox mic as I chatted with a friend (which later I decided is a bad idea and plan not to do anymore). I couldn't find a good strategy to dodge the drill attacks or the charge attacks for that matter. I'm not particularly good at aiming and I rely on dodging far too much (the many, many months and months of Gears of War 3 in me I suppose). I tried running around corners, I didn't have any robotic aids and my shot sucks. Basically the best combo for Big Daddy wins and me losses, which is kind of crushing my pride in being a gamer girl.

Right now I'm at the point where I could actually switch my gene abilities at a gene station however there is a particularly difficult Big Daddy I had managed to get into the red fairly quickly but ran out of space to back up into and kept getting my face bashed in. That is where I quit for the day. I am determined to beat this game and move onto Bioshock 2 as quickly as possible. Let's just hope my learning curve peaks soon, or Big Daddy's will only crush my virtual man game character face but my dreams as well.

001: Wilfred

Wilfred
Property of FX.
Wilfred is something of a spunky, interesting comedy. I first heard about this little gem from a family friend who urged me to watch the show; this was like 6 months ago. So I finally got around to watching it and I had to stop to tell my friend that he was right, it is an awesome show. If you get butt-hurt over spoilers: I tried not to let any on but just stop reading now. I didn't ruin any big revelations but I do reflect on things you may see/develop later in the show.

If you don't know about this show it's about this guy who sees his next store neighbor's dog as a human in a dog costume (he talks too!). At first I was laughing my socks off; two episodes in and I liked it on GetGlue. It's like Weeds on the drug front but less about the obtaining, growing and processing of weed and more about a man and a dog hitting the bong every episode. Drugs aside, I really liked the witty jokes, funny accents and 'bear love scenes.' However, a good 10 episodes in and I'm beginning to hate Wilfred (himself, not the show). I guess now I can see why his previous owner beat him and I'm an advocate against animal cruelty.

None of the episodes are cliff hangers (except for the last episode, of course) but they always keep you coming back. Also in episode 12, I re-realized how small Elijah Wood really is...and how I still think he's hot. Whatever, don't judge me.

In the end I'm left wondering, what does Wilfred look like without his dog costume?
