001: Wilfred

Wilfred
Property of FX.
Wilfred is something of a spunky, interesting comedy. I first heard about this little gem from a family friend who urged me to watch the show; this was like 6 months ago. So I finally got around to watching it and I had to stop to tell my friend that he was right, it is an awesome show. If you get butt-hurt over spoilers: I tried not to let any on but just stop reading now. I didn't ruin any big revelations but I do reflect on things you may see/develop later in the show.

If you don't know about this show it's about this guy who sees his next store neighbor's dog as a human in a dog costume (he talks too!). At first I was laughing my socks off; two episodes in and I liked it on GetGlue. It's like Weeds on the drug front but less about the obtaining, growing and processing of weed and more about a man and a dog hitting the bong every episode. Drugs aside, I really liked the witty jokes, funny accents and 'bear love scenes.' However, a good 10 episodes in and I'm beginning to hate Wilfred (himself, not the show). I guess now I can see why his previous owner beat him and I'm an advocate against animal cruelty.

None of the episodes are cliff hangers (except for the last episode, of course) but they always keep you coming back. Also in episode 12, I re-realized how small Elijah Wood really is...and how I still think he's hot. Whatever, don't judge me.

In the end I'm left wondering, what does Wilfred look like without his dog costume?
